What is your immediate reaction to the work you are observing? How does it make you feel? Rather than constructing sentences, make a list of your initial reactions to the object you are encountering.

Evaluate the work you are observing with respect to its formal elements, such as balance of forms, composition, color, contrast, point of view, and clarity or ambiguity of content. Read more »
