Do you have a question about Student Response Systems or eInstruction? E-mail the Campus Clickers - a cross campus group of instructors and support staff. You can also join the group!
If you decide to use eInstruction, this is a basic outline with links to more detailed instructions for you to follow:
- A consultation with local support personnel or an Academic Technology consultant can be useful to determine the best ways to integrate the technology into the classroom. Check the "Local Support" page for more details.
- Contact eInstruction for an instructor kit.
- Contact either the UW Bookstore or the bookstore of your choice when you order textbooks to make sure they also will stock the appropriate number of eInstruction units for your students. The ISBN of the student pads is 9781881483717.
- Once you receive your instructor kit, install either the stand-alone CPS software or the CPS for Powerpoint software. If you want to download the software, you can find it on e-Instruction's website.
- In the CPS or CPS for Powerpoint software, create your CPS online course. If you have not taught with CPS before, you will also need to create a CPS account and password using the instructor code that came with your instructor kit. Once you have created your course, you will have a class key.
- Make sure your students know your class key before the first day you expect to use e-Instruction in class. Students need to register their clickers online and associate their clicker with your class. They will need your class key to do this. Instructions for your students on how to do this are located in "Registering Units." Be clear with your students about when you expect them to bring their response units to class and what (if any) their use of the units will have on their grade.
- Download your course roster to your computer.
- Once your students are all registered in CPS Online, and your roster is updated, you can begin creating questions and polling your students!
